Count Me In!
According to the Search Institute, one of the things kids need most to be successful is the chance to build assets with caring adults in their community. Count Me In! is Whitley County’s 40 Assets Development Program. It’s lead by a group of community volunteers who direct funding into the community to be used to build assets for kids.
The best part is…anyone can be an asset builder! If you have a special skill, hobby or interest like cooking, fishing, wood crafting, or scrap booking, you too can be an asset builder. For example, a local chef might apply for Count Me In! dollars to host a group of young people for an afternoon cooking class. The funds could pay for the food prepared and utensils needed, and the kids learn a new skill while connecting with a caring adult in the community.
